Answer 1 :
Unless the UK government checks each and every computer to come into it's country ( even then, how would they know it's pirated?), you're absolutely fine.
Answer 2 :
Yes it is illegal. It violates international copyright laws. ~ No they wont find out. They don't check.
Answer 3 :
of course, it is illegal. it needs to be check first
Answer 4 :
It is technically illegal, but no one would ever find out. Unlike in the US, Europe does not take away computers to be scanned when you pass through an airport. We have something, that is called 'the right to privacy', which Americans generally respect less and less. I've gone through European airports dozens of times, and no one has ever asked to check my software. Been to Britain as well, no such thing. Never flown in from the US though, however I hardly believe things would be different for incoming Americans. So don't worry, stick it to Microsoft with the knowledge that you'll be safe :)

Can I buy a US laptop charger for a UK laptop?

Answer 1 :
As long as it is for the same model, you should be OK.
Answer 2 :
Yes. Any laptop AC adapter is converting the input power into the appropriate DC voltage for the laptop. No matter what's coming in, the same voltage is always getting put through to the laptop. So long as the laptop is a reasonably popular model, you can probably find a US charger for it without issue. Just make sure it is the appropriate one for your laptop. Using a charger that fits the plug but has a different voltage output or tip polarity could damage or destroy the laptop.
Answer 3 :
For many years now they are all worldwide compatible for the AC connection 120V-240V, 50~60Hz. You may need an adapter to fit sockets in different countries. But you do have to make sure the DC Voltage output is correct and the Wattage is sufficient.
Answer 4 :
Absolutely. If anything, you would have had to do this anyways since UK outlets are not the same as US outlets. If you are looking for a new charger, I would personally suggest you visit Topmic. Topmic is well known for their great services and their durable products. They include free shipping and free lifetime warranty. Yes, lifetime. This means if the charger ever stopped working on its own for whatever reason, they would replace it as many times as needd at no additional cost, for life. This is a great way to save money in the long run and a good investment as well. You should be able to find them online through google search. Best of luck.

Is there any way to get a UK HP laptop shipped to the USA??
Is there any way to get a UK HP laptop shipped to the USA?
I'm going to start college in the UK this fall and want to get a UK laptop delivered here before I leave. I've looked at multiple laptop dealers' websites (UK ones) and the UK HP website but none deliver over here. I don't want to have to wait until the day before classes start to get a laptop.

Answer 1 :
Your best bet is to look for a UK HP retailer on e-bay as they will be able to sort out international shipping, it wont be cheap though, we pay a lot lot more for laptops over here. you would be best to take a US model and get it adapted for use in the UK, there's not a real lot of difference really, I have had three Laptops from the USA over the last 10 years and i've saved around £500 on the retail price all together, they all work fine, the only real issue is warranties etc.
Answer 2 :
Why dont you buy it here? Strange that they will not mail to the states though. Is there a difference?

What adaptor is required for using UK laptop in Switzerland?
What adaptor is required for using UK laptop in Switzerland?
Hi, I have the standard adaptor that fits the Euro socket and the standard UK plug fits into this, but do I need to have another adaptor to handle the voltage? My laptop adaptor says the following: Wide range input 65W Input:100-240V ~1.7A (1.7A) 50-60 Hz Output:18.5V (18.5V) -- 3.5A (3.5A) Thanks in advance for your help! Jen

Answer 1 :
Both the UK and Switzerland use 230, so you don't have to use any kind of adaptor other than the plug. 100-240 means the laptop is dual voltage, which means you can use it pretty much around the world without a voltage converter.
Answer 2 :
Switzerland has the "Type J" socket. The ungrounded "Type C" europlug fits in the swiss socket. However if you have a grounded plug with 3-pins, you need an adaptor like this one: http://www.travelproducts.com/switzerland-grounded-plug-adapter.html
