Answer 1 :
Just as useful as anywhere else. Only issue is making sure you have an adaptor so you can plug it in to recharge. The difference in voltage is not a problem because the charger steps it down.
Answer 2 :
Yes -- it should work fine. Video DVDs you buy in the UK might not play on it, but other than that everything should work. Just buy an adapter so you can charge it over there and you'll be set.
Answer 3 :
The only catch is that they use 220 power while here in the states, most is 110. Check your power adapter for your lap top and see if it will work with 220, if not you need a power converter. A good one will run you 60 bucks or so. If you do find you need a converter, buy it there as the radio shack special isn't worth your time (I lost an XBox to one). Enjoy your time there and have a pint for me.
Answer 4 :
Apart from having to buy a new power cord (check your ac adaptor will do 220/240V) and getting a £ sign on the keyboard being a bumache (use charmap), not a problem. You can change the DVD region code (once) to Region 2 if you buy Region 2 dvds in Europe. Note that you only get 5 chances to change the region code. After that you are stuck with the last region code selected.
Answer 5 :
You will need a power adaptor, contary to the above statements the voltage is not the only difference, british AC current runs at 240V at 50Hz, american supply is a 60Hz.

Answer 1 :
itvplayer channel 4oD skyplayer (if you have a skay account)
Answer 2 :
Sometimes those sites are restricted to users inside the country only, so if you go abroad, you sometimes can not use the sides. I moved to Canada from Germany and some sites say "you can only use this services inside Germany".
Answer 3 :
If it's giving you trouble, look up "proxy servers", and find a proxy server inside the UK. That way the UK will think your computer is in the UK. If all else fails, there is "tunneling". Hitch up with a US soldier at a bar near a base on Friday night and ask them. There's got to be a US TV station for the soldiers. When I was in South Korea, it was a godsend to have a US television station near Seoul. If all else fails, get a HAM radio license and bring a radio. Those licenses are recognized internationally.

What kind of converter do I need to bring my laptop to the UK?

Answer 1 :
The UK uses 240v, so you'll need a 'step down' transformer to 110/120v. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Step-down-voltage-converter-240V/dp/B000L99ZJ2
Answer 2 :
Assuming you're from the USA... you need to buy a plug extension so that your adapter will fit in the UK sockets; it will have your own socket on one side and turns it into a UK plug (see link below). Other than that it should work fine, as most adapters support a range of 100 ~ 240 Volts. Might wanna check your adapter, just to be sure though. It should be written on the sticker. Hope this helps!
Answer 3 :
You should get like a travel kit of different converters but specifically for UK you'll need 220 V.
