What do you call the cable to link a laptop and a guitar amp, and where to buy in UK?
I need a cable to link my TV, laptop and iPod to my guitar amp, so I need a cable to do so. What would you call this and where can I buy one in the UK? Thanks

Answer 1 :
1/8" stereo mini phone plug to 1/4" mono phone plug. Slight problem -- stereo to mono conversion. If you use a mono cable you'll only get one channel. If your amp has 2 inputs, you could use a Y-cable.

If i bought a laptop from USA and brought it back to the uk would it work even if i brought the right adapter.
if i bought a laptop from USA and brought it back to the uk would it work even if i brought the right adapter?
i brought a laptop from the USA for $1000 (£500) instead of buying the same laptop in the UK for £750 ($1500) would the laptop still work in the UK? Even though that the USA is NTSC and the UK is PAL? Any answers welcome Note: Thank you for your time and effort for reading this article.

Answer 1 :
Yeah, would need a new mains adapter probably as us it 110v and uk 230v but otherwise no probs (not sure about that....how to americans bring their laptops here....)
Answer 2 :
yup
Answer 3 :
yes.and you can change the dvd region usually up to 5 times so you could watch uk dvds on it too.laptops are made to work on both 110 and 220v otherwise they would be useless for traveling.so u dont even need a voltage adapter just a us-uk socket adapter.
Answer 4 :
Basically Yes, NTSC and PAL are video formats, you would need to install the different video drivers which are easy to download. Everything else (internet, Wi-fi) should be compatible.
Answer 5 :
yes

Can any region DVD work on my UK DVD player or a laptop?
Someone told me that any region dvd can work on a UK dvd player. Is this true, or only half true (works on laptops) or completely false?
Other - Electronics - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
No, it's not true. However, you can modify most DVD players by using the remote control and entering a string of numbers and key presses. The trick is to set the region code to 0 (zero). Look up http://www.dvdcodes.net/ to find out if your DVD player can be modified. PC DVD players / recorders can be modified by software. You will have to look up the model and search Google.

When you get to the UK you can get a universal power supply that will work on UK mains (power lines to us) and power your laptop. Contact Kensington and ask them for the correct model number for UK mains and your laptop. I'm certain they make one. If I'm wrong, an equivalent company in the UK does.

How useful is an American laptop in the UK?
I am studying abroad in London. Will my US laptop acutally work and be compatible with software/internet there?
Laptops & Notebooks - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Just as useful as anywhere else. Only issue is making sure you have an adaptor so you can plug it in to recharge. The difference in voltage is not a problem because the charger steps it down.
Answer 2 :
Yes -- it should work fine. Video DVDs you buy in the UK might not play on it, but other than that everything should work. Just buy an adapter so you can charge it over there and you'll be set.
Answer 3 :
The only catch is that they use 220 power while here in the states, most is 110. Check your power adapter for your lap top and see if it will work with 220, if not you need a power converter. A good one will run you 60 bucks or so. If you do find you need a converter, buy it there as the radio shack special isn't worth your time (I lost an XBox to one). Enjoy your time there and have a pint for me.
Answer 4 :
Apart from having to buy a new power cord (check your ac adaptor will do 220/240V) and getting a £ sign on the keyboard being a bumache (use charmap), not a problem. You can change the DVD region code (once) to Region 2 if you buy Region 2 dvds in Europe. Note that you only get 5 chances to change the region code. After that you are stuck with the last region code selected.
Answer 5 :
You will need a power adaptor, contary to the above statements the voltage is not the only difference, british AC current runs at 240V at 50Hz, american supply is a 60Hz.

I am going to work in saudi arabia and want to be able to watch UK tv or english channels on my laptop through the internet, are there any sites or devises that will let me do this ? Thanks
Laptops & Notebooks - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
itvplayer channel 4oD skyplayer (if you have a skay account)
Answer 2 :
Sometimes those sites are restricted to users inside the country only, so if you go abroad, you sometimes can not use the sides. I moved to Canada from Germany and some sites say "you can only use this services inside Germany".
Answer 3 :
If it's giving you trouble, look up "proxy servers", and find a proxy server inside the UK. That way the UK will think your computer is in the UK. If all else fails, there is "tunneling". Hitch up with a US soldier at a bar near a base on Friday night and ask them. There's got to be a US TV station for the soldiers. When I was in South Korea, it was a godsend to have a US television station near Seoul. If all else fails, get a HAM radio license and bring a radio. Those licenses are recognized internationally.

What kind of converter do I need to bring my laptop to the UK?
| What kind of converter do I need to bring my laptop to the UK? I'm going to be in London and am bringing my laptop. What kind of volatage converter should I get for this? Laptops & Notebooks - 3 Answers People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : Answer 1 : The UK uses 240v, so you'll need a 'step down' transformer to 110/120v. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Step-down-voltage-converter-240V/dp/B000L99ZJ2 Answer 2 : Assuming you're from the USA... you need to buy a plug extension so that your adapter will fit in the UK sockets; it will have your own socket on one side and turns it into a UK plug (see link below). Other than that it should work fine, as most adapters support a range of 100 ~ 240 Volts. Might wanna check your adapter, just to be sure though. It should be written on the sticker. Hope this helps! Answer 3 : You should get like a travel kit of different converters but specifically for UK you'll need 220 V. |

Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : Answer 1 : UK sockets are 3-pin and uses 50 Hz. You must have a converter for the 50Hz converter and a suitable pin adapter (I think in America you use a 2-pin plug). You could contact Dell and find out if you need a converter, but I'd bring it just in case. Answer 2 : Yes, you'll need a power converter. I lived in England for 3 years and had to do this for my US Electronics that I brought with me. A good Travel Store will have this available. Bon Voyage! |

Laptops & Notebooks - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
U.S. power is 120 volts @ 60 Hz Power in the UK and EU is different, so the power adapter is necessary.
Answer 2 :
As far as I know you use 110 volts AC in America whereas we use 230 volts AC in England. You will need a transformer that can make 230 volts AC into the 19 volts DC that your laptop requires. It will need a three square pin AC plug. If wiring it yourself, the positive goes to the right, the negative to the left and the earth/ ground goes to the big pin at the top. EDIT Who's giving us all thumbs down? Our info is CORRECT! Maybe it was Sean, who has one of the universal adapters on his laptop, unlike most of the rest of us!!!!!
Answer 3 :
Please check your power adapter: Input 100 to 240 VAC, 50 / 60 Hz so yes, they are meant for operating around the globe only thing you will need is a simple wall plug adapter, which should be freely available in host country example so you know, http://www.amazon.com/Power-Bright-PB12-Adapter-Grounded/dp/B000PQL7AQ & you'll do best to simply ignore the answers above me EDIT: I am not aware of any and any laptop / netbook power adapters which do not use auto-sensing power inputs http://img.alibaba.com/photo/10813096/Power_Adapter_For_Compaq_Laptop.jpg Period
Answer 4 :
Which part? Most laptop cords have two parts. If you mean the two prong adapter that plugs into the wall, no. That just goes into the wall. If you mean the other part with the transformer, yes--but then you also need the part that just goes into the wall. The transformer on a US and European cable both OUTPUT the same power to your laptop, but since the inputs are different they aren't compatible with the power coming out of the wall on the wrong side of the pond. That being said, it's better to use the adapter. Your US/EU cords are going to look nearly identical, can be easily confused and will instantly destroy anything plugged into the wrong power supply. Instantly. More than that, you can use one adapter for any and all electrical devices you bring. You'd need different cables with transformers for anything that needs power otherwise. Don't count on USB to power anything. Single point of failure is great for maintenance, but a bad idea for the other side of the planet--it means if one thing fails, everything goes down.

How much will UK Customs charge me on importing a laptop from the USA.
How much will UK Customs charge me on importing a laptop from the USA?
Hi I'm considering importing a laptop from the American computer store www.excaliberpc.com to my home in the UK. After currency conversion the laptop costs £627 (or there abouts) and shipping approximately £71. Basically can somebody who knows tell me how much I'll be charged by UK customs (if any) and how this will affect the delivery time (I intend on paying a fair amount extra for expedited international delivery. Thanks in advance for any help, I'm very grateful!

Answer 1 :
It depends who the company ships with, they all have different charges. I often recieve car parts from america and find UPS or parcelforce are most likely to charge. You can contact the company and ask them to send it as a gift or mark down the value of the goods as often import tax is done as a percentage by customs whereas the shipping company usually charges a set fee. Bear in mind when doing this the item will not be insured for the correct value if lost in the post (but ive never had a problem with anything being lost and you still get a tracking number). Hope that helps
Answer 2 :
Forwarding company offers international shipping services from pretty much any online store. However, they also offer a free Landed cost estimate that includes ALL charges (shipping, duties, taxes, etc.) Just input the information you provided here: http://www.bongous.com/consolidation_calculator.php There is no obligation and it takes 2 seconds to get the estimate. I am in AU and I "trial run" all my purchases that way.
Answer 3 :
Tax will be around 20% but be aware that you will need a voltage adaptor for it to work in the UK, and if it comes with a warranty it will not usually be valid in the UK.

What are the UK broadband providers that give a free laptop too?
A while back there was a whole lot of advertising from broadband companies in the UK where if you sign up to their broadband packages you get a free laptop as well. Are any of these still going? I know AOL is still doing it but who are the rest?

Answer 1 :
3 are doing this if you sign up for mobile broadband at £35 a month. I would avoid this offer, the catch is its a 2 year contract with limited download capabilities, sure the AOL one was 10gb a month. The laptops are very basic spec and your stuck for 2 years with the same provider.

Is it cheaper to buy a laptop and iPod in UK, Thailand or Australia?
I am going to Thailand for a month and then Australia for a year. I want to have a laptop and an iPod for my time i oz. Considering the inconveniance of having to look after expensive items whilst in Thailand I was wondering if there was any difference in laptop and iPod prices here in the UK and in Thailand and oz and if any were particularly cheaper or more expensive.

Answer 1 :
in Oz & UK - all electronics are more expensive than US cheaper to buy in Canada or US you do not even need to go there, just check the prices on the web, no need to ask man!
Answer 2 :
Should be cheaper in Thailand. Better compare the price through the net, before you start from your base.
Answer 3 :
Thailand. The baht is only worth about 3 cents + -. Things are very reasonable in Thailand.
Answer 4 :
if u r a tourist in thailand and buy there u'll get 7% refund at airport!!! please go check at Pantip Plaza. Price there is reliable and probably will be cheaper.

Excise duty for a laptop I will be taking to UK.
excise duty for a laptop I will be taking to UK?
I am visiting a friend in UK. We are both meeting first in Switzerland, then going to France and from there to London (where he lives). I am planning to take a laptop to him as a gift. What customs duty will I have to pay? I am assuming in the Schengen zone, I don't have to pay any and just say that it's for my personal use but when I enter UK, I have to tell it's for him.
United Kingdom - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Personally, I'd just take it out of its box, put it in a bag and walk through customs; you'll be one of thousands walking through with a laptop! France is in the EU, so if you buy there you should be able to just walk through anyway.

is it worth to ship my laptop to the uk?
hello, i listed my laptop for sale for $800 dollars and there is a person who is willing to pay me $1000 to ship it to the uk via UPS internatinal priority mail.. is just wanted to know if is it worth the offer? or do you have any idea how much does it cost to ship the laptop? is about 10 pounds in everything! thanks! SORRY, I JUST NOTICED IS NOT UPS.. IT'S USPS EMS GLOBAL EXPRESS NTERNATIONAL PRIORITY MAIL SERVICE

Make sure (a) the person pays in full before the laptop leaves you (b) you pack it well - in line with UPS recommendations. I am in UK myself and we do have UPS here but DHL is way more common
Answer 2 :
Why not call USPS EMS Global Express and ask them. I often buy stuff from ebay, and I would love to buy stuff from the US, but the postal charges are enormous unfortunately, so i doubt if it would be cheap! Try reducing the price in the US, it may be better for you in the long run. I buy from China........things are cheap and they always arrive, no prob.

How long does it take for a Dell Laptop to arrive in the UK.
How long does it take for a Dell Laptop to arrive in the UK?
I want a Dell Laptop for my birthday and my parents want to know how long it takes to arrive (In the UK) and whether dell is good quality.
Laptops & Notebooks - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
I'm on a dell laptop right now and its good quality :) Our laptop took 2 weeks to come but i think theres different options.
Answer 2 :
bloody ages..lol, no, joking about 3,4,5 weeks maybe
Answer 3 :
Dell is the best company in the world for me. I am 13 years old got one last Christmas (laptop) it works flawlessly and I always get loads and loads of bad luck , so I was very happy to see that there was no problems, delivery time is approx 1 week, it took just over 2 weeks for me because dell said they were on very high demand, but still in time for Christmas, you and your parents are making a huge mistake if you decide NOT to go with Dell.
Answer 4 :
It depends on the distance you live. Whether Dell arrives in good condition only after you unpack, install, and test it at home. Call the helpdesk support for clarification if problem arises.
Answer 5 :
Like all companies, they have good and bad. The important thing is how they resolve problems quickly and efficiently. The warentee and how it is accomplished. If you have to ship the computer and wait for repairs, this reduces the time you have with the computer and the warentee time. Do they compensate you for the lost time by extending the warentee period. And what about the time you do not have the computer. Are you going to have the system disk or is it already installed. If installed, how do you make a system disk or backup. Do you have phone support, live chat, or FAQs (frequently asked questions.). Do you get a manual or is it on disk. If the computer has problems, how can you access the manual or instructions. Do you need to make a printed copy (expensive in paper and ink - I know by experience) of the manual for emergencies. If they have instructions on the internet, does it include pictures. As far as a dell laptop, I have one and some limitations are their software only works on a dell (they may have changed as this caused them some problems). They have improved their warentee as past practices caused loss of a lot of customers. I had their extended warentee and had to ship my computer back to the factory for them to evaluate and repair. It returned repaired but I was out the computer use for an extended period of time and no extended warentee time. Local repair is better for time. Just things to think about. Most of the time, they work great, but when something happens, what are your options, and what does the warentee cover hope this helps falcon

Hi - I have a UK laptop with UK 3 pin plug. I'm going to the US next week and would like to take my laptop over, but wasn't sure what I need to power it. I can get a plug converter, 3 pin to 2 pin, but wasn't sure if I need a transformer or something as the voltage is different. Thanks!

Answer 1 :
you wont need a transformer as the voltage in USA is less than UK. (unless its a step-up transformer) Just a standard converter will work. I looked at my Laptop charger, its rated 100v - 240v and 50hz - 60hz. this will work in UK and USA.
Answer 2 :
You will need a transformer, probably get one at Radio Shack

How to safely deliver a laptop from UK to Malaysia?
How to safely deliver a laptop from UK to Malaysia?
Hi, I have a Dell laptop and want to send it back to Malaysia, but the problem is, I don't have any box for my laptop. So my question is, which company will provide the box for my laptop, or where can I buy the box myself?
Laptops & Notebooks - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
There are multiple places that sell boxes of varying sizes. However, the problem is not the box. The problem is the packing material you use inside the box. If you examined the sparse packing material the laptop manufacturers use, it seems like you might not need much... except the manufacturer use custom sized foam braces that immobilize a laptop in the center of a much larger box. So, find a UPS or FEDEX or the equivalent shipping company near you. They will sell boxes. They will even sell packing material. Here is what you want to do, for optimal security... Pack the laptop well in an appropriate-sized box. Seal that box. Make sure there is an address label on that box for your destination. Pack THAT box, into another larger box. Make sure you can fit packing material between the two boxes. Seal the box. Put another shipping label on this box. The one on the inner box is just in case the outer box is damaged. Ship.

Can I use my UK laptop on latin American power sockets without problems?
Can I use my UK laptop on latin American power sockets without problems?
Latin America and Colombia.
Laptops & Notebooks - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
you first need a transformer and an adapter. UK is 220vt -like here in Spain- and I think Latin America is 110v and different plug. beside of this, you wont have any problem.
Answer 2 :
If not, you can always buy an adapter which makes it possible
Answer 3 :
Latin America uses 240-220v power sockets. if your laptop say it only uses 120-110v you are going to need an adapter for 240 to 120v outlet. Most laptops now (new ones 2-3 years old) come with their power adapters with 240-120v usage. check your power supply for your laptop - it should say something like Voltage Range

Answer 1 :
you first need a transformer and an adapter. UK is 220vt -like here in Spain- and I think Latin America is 110v and different plug. beside of this, you wont have any problem.
Answer 2 :
If not, you can always buy an adapter which makes it possible

Answer 1 :
You should have no problem connecting via WLAN or LAN to the internet. The only problems you may encounter are certian keyboard muck-ups (nothing to worry about), but other than that, you are good to go!
Answer 2 :
You will need to conenct your wireless up the same way you connnected your laptop up to your internet at home, if you are not sure ask the hotel. If they claim to have wi-fi then you should no problem, make sure however this is FREE wi-fi otherwise you could have a hefty bill at the end of your trip.
Answer 3 :
if the hotell offers Wifi then you can use connect to that via the wireless card, i have a UK laptop and live in teh US and it works fine. Also most hotels offer FREE wifi over here, unlike england where u pay through the nose for everything. And unlike the other guy said, the keyboard will be no problem, it will stay exactly as it is.
Answer 4 :
If your laptop has a wireless adapter, you'll be fine. Otherwise, bring an ethernet cable. You won't need an ISP, because the hotels provide their own internet. Also, make sure to bring an adapter for your power cable! I've travelled abroad, and it was a disappointing thing to forget!
Answer 5 :
Everything Will J said is correct. The only other problem I see you having is with outlets (the ones here in the U.S. are shaped differently) but you should be able to find a cable that will solve that problem.
Answer 6 :
just turn on ur wifi and log on simple--- am sure the front desk will be glad to help if u have a prob

Is anywhere in the UK doing laptop trade ins for new ones?
I have a laptop at the moment which is working and in quite good condition but I've been looking at getting a better one but I want to try and trade the one I have in to get a little (doubt it will be much!) bit of money off. Anyone know of a place that is doing that? Or will be?

Answer 1 :
PC World do trade ins, but they screw you over. You're better selling your old one on eBay. A good, fast laptop will get £100. An older, slower laptop might only get £30. You'd get three or four times that on eBay.

Answer 1 :
Provided he purchases the laptop from a retailer that participates in the retail export scheme (this is a voluntary scheme, so not all retailers do) he can declare his intention to export the machine at the time he buys it and fill in the necessary paperwork. The VAT is paid at the point of sale but when he leaves the country he can present the machine and paperwork to Customs as proof of export and they will refund the VAT.

yes just make sure you have right power converter handy though.
Answer 2 :
It depends on the transformer in the power supply if it can accept something like 110V-240V you are fine
Answer 3 :
As long as you get the correct power converter. I have german guys coming in every week to get converters for their laptops so they can use them in the US
Answer 4 :
As long as the power supply (brick) is either switchable or self adjusting (120V - 240V) yes. All you'll need is a plug adapter.
Answer 5 :
You can use Sony Canada Notebook even outside the Canada. The power adapter supplied with the Sony Notebook operates at Dual Voltage. The Notebook utilizes an auto switching power supply for voltages between 110 and 240 volts. There is no need to purchase any voltage adapter. All that is required is the plug adaptor for the wall outlet...

Im travelling away on saturday and desperately need internet for my laptop to complete my University work while I'm there. I find the whole thing a little overwhelming. Does anyone have any advice?

Answer 1 :
You would be best off getting something like Mobile Internet. UK wise companies like Vodafone offer mobile internet. You may have to sign up for a year (contract wise) but you will get a usb stick that allows you to connect to the internet where ever you can get a signal (be sure to check they work abroad). There is loads of companies doing this now, just have a search around Yahoo or another search engine for more advice. You should find that bars in Benidorm will also offer free (providing your buying a drink) internet access as well, if all else fails.

who cares just try it.. If sparks come out then you might need an adapter.
Answer 2 :
you will nee a converter but look at the back of the laptop most 220 type computers have a red switch to change voltage from 220 to 110 if not you have to by a voltage converter at radio shack costs about $25.00 U.S.
Answer 3 :
Don't take any notice of the MORONIC PRICK that answered your question. On the bottom of your charging unit you will see that it says the range in voltage is from 110 to 240 volts you just need a adapter for the wall socket. jwizle not the other one

Is it illegal to take UK a laptop with pirated windows 7?
My friend got a laptop with pirated windows 7 edition. He is going to UK for higher education. Will it cause any problem?
Software - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Unless the UK government checks each and every computer to come into it's country ( even then, how would they know it's pirated?), you're absolutely fine.
Answer 2 :
Yes it is illegal. It violates international copyright laws. ~ No they wont find out. They don't check.
Answer 3 :
of course, it is illegal. it needs to be check first
Answer 4 :
It is technically illegal, but no one would ever find out. Unlike in the US, Europe does not take away computers to be scanned when you pass through an airport. We have something, that is called 'the right to privacy', which Americans generally respect less and less. I've gone through European airports dozens of times, and no one has ever asked to check my software. Been to Britain as well, no such thing. Never flown in from the US though, however I hardly believe things would be different for incoming Americans. So don't worry, stick it to Microsoft with the knowledge that you'll be safe :)

Can I buy a US laptop charger for a UK laptop?
I recently moved to the US and the power cable for my UK laptop has just broken- can I use a US charger on my UK laptop without the battery exploding or whatever? Thanks!
Laptops & Notebooks - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
As long as it is for the same model, you should be OK.
Answer 2 :
Yes. Any laptop AC adapter is converting the input power into the appropriate DC voltage for the laptop. No matter what's coming in, the same voltage is always getting put through to the laptop. So long as the laptop is a reasonably popular model, you can probably find a US charger for it without issue. Just make sure it is the appropriate one for your laptop. Using a charger that fits the plug but has a different voltage output or tip polarity could damage or destroy the laptop.
Answer 3 :
For many years now they are all worldwide compatible for the AC connection 120V-240V, 50~60Hz. You may need an adapter to fit sockets in different countries. But you do have to make sure the DC Voltage output is correct and the Wattage is sufficient.
Answer 4 :
Absolutely. If anything, you would have had to do this anyways since UK outlets are not the same as US outlets. If you are looking for a new charger, I would personally suggest you visit Topmic. Topmic is well known for their great services and their durable products. They include free shipping and free lifetime warranty. Yes, lifetime. This means if the charger ever stopped working on its own for whatever reason, they would replace it as many times as needd at no additional cost, for life. This is a great way to save money in the long run and a good investment as well. You should be able to find them online through google search. Best of luck.

Is there any way to get a UK HP laptop shipped to the USA?
I'm going to start college in the UK this fall and want to get a UK laptop delivered here before I leave. I've looked at multiple laptop dealers' websites (UK ones) and the UK HP website but none deliver over here. I don't want to have to wait until the day before classes start to get a laptop.

Answer 1 :
Your best bet is to look for a UK HP retailer on e-bay as they will be able to sort out international shipping, it wont be cheap though, we pay a lot lot more for laptops over here. you would be best to take a US model and get it adapted for use in the UK, there's not a real lot of difference really, I have had three Laptops from the USA over the last 10 years and i've saved around £500 on the retail price all together, they all work fine, the only real issue is warranties etc.
Answer 2 :
Why dont you buy it here? Strange that they will not mail to the states though. Is there a difference?

What adaptor is required for using UK laptop in Switzerland?
Hi, I have the standard adaptor that fits the Euro socket and the standard UK plug fits into this, but do I need to have another adaptor to handle the voltage? My laptop adaptor says the following: Wide range input 65W Input:100-240V ~1.7A (1.7A) 50-60 Hz Output:18.5V (18.5V) -- 3.5A (3.5A) Thanks in advance for your help! Jen

Answer 1 :
Both the UK and Switzerland use 230, so you don't have to use any kind of adaptor other than the plug. 100-240 means the laptop is dual voltage, which means you can use it pretty much around the world without a voltage converter.
Answer 2 :
Switzerland has the "Type J" socket. The ungrounded "Type C" europlug fits in the swiss socket. However if you have a grounded plug with 3-pins, you need an adaptor like this one: http://www.travelproducts.com/switzerland-grounded-plug-adapter.html
