Can any region DVD work on my UK DVD player or a laptop?
Someone told me that any region dvd can work on a UK dvd player. Is this true, or only half true (works on laptops) or completely false?

No, it's not true. However, you can modify most DVD players by using the remote control and entering a string of numbers and key presses. The trick is to set the region code to 0 (zero). Look up http://www.dvdcodes.net/ to find out if your DVD player can be modified. PC DVD players / recorders can be modified by software. You will have to look up the model and search Google.
